FLTEACH: An Internet Connection for NADSFL

NADSFL members, this is a wonderful way to keep in touch with each other and to discuss matters of interest to us.

Use the NADSFL feature of FLTEACH (originally called SUPER).

To subscribe to FLTEACH:
Send an e-mail message to: listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.eduSubscribe to FLTEACHPut nothing in the subject line. The "message" itself should contain only the following single line beginning at the left margin: SUB FLTEACH firstname lastname. (Example: SUB FLTEACH JANE DOE)

Confirmation message:
(Keep this confirmation in a safe place for future reference.) You will soon receive a confirmation message from the listserv to which you need to respond within 72 hours. You will then receive a welcome message with directions and suggestions on how to use the listserv. This message will address how the message appears in your mailbox, how to respond to messages, and how to take care to distinguish whether you are responding to the whole group or just the individual who sent the message. Keep this message in a safe place -- in an on-line file, or print it out -- so you will know how to stop receipt of messages for a short time, or unsubscribe permanently from FLTEACH.

To subscribe to NADSFL messages only:
NADSFL has its own sub-topic area on FLTEACH. If you wish to participate only in the NADSFL group, do the following. Send a command to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu
This command (in the body of the message) is the single line: SET FLTEACH TOPICS:NADSFL If you do this, you will no longer receive any other FLTEACH mail. If you wish to receive all the normal FLTEACH postings, do NOTHING. If you subscribe only to NADSFL, you can still find all FLTEACH posting in FLTEACH DIGESTS.
If you wish to send mail that the subtopic NADSFL, begin your subject line with NADSFL:
Please do not forget the colon. Any message that does not begin with "NADSFL:" will not be sent to the NADSFL group. If you make a mistake, do not repost the same message. Any reply to a message will follow the same distribution as the original message as long as you do not alter the subject (i.e. "Re: NADSFL:) works fine.

Biography form:
New subscribers will receive an on-line biography form to fill out which will be made available to all subscribers of FLTEACH.

Sending a message to all FLTEACHer:
To send a message to everyone on the FLTEACH list, you should address your messages as follows: FLTEACH@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu

To leave FLTEACH permanently:
To signoff, put nothing in the subject line. Include the following in the body of the message: signoff flteach. Send to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu

To leave FLTEACH temporarily:
You can leave FLTEACH temporarily by sending the command to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu: SET FLTEACH NOMAIL
Do this in the body of the message. You should SET FLTEACH NOMAIL if you will be away from your mailbox for an extended period of time. Your in-box could overflow causing filespace problems.

To restart FLTEACH:
Restart FLTEACH by sending the command: SET FLTEACH MAIL in the body of the message. Send to listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu

To catch up on what you missed:
There are options called INDEX and DIGEST which allows you to order the messages you think would be most valuable to you. You'll receive instructions when you subscribe.
