NADSFL

National Association of District Supervisors of Foreign Languages

As an older person without portfolio and retired, I have lots of time on my hands to ask "thought questions" such as the title of my note today implies.  I would like to ask those presently in NADSFL leadership positions if the time has come to revisit the Characteristics that many of us had a great part in formulating and reformulating in 1991 (Opryland) and 1998, respectively.  It would be a worthwhile activity, in my view, to update such important contributions to the profession.  I appreciate your responses.  Have a great day.   Paul

Paul, I think it would be a good idea to review the Characteristics... document. Reference could be made to some of the recent position statements that ACTFL has released (target language use, technology, etc.).

Other folks have inquired about taking a look at this document and also the Role of the Foreign Language Supervisor document.

We are working at building in time during the Annual Meeting to do some reviewing of these documents.

Very good news, indeed.  I'd like to hear from NADSFL colleagues who also "double" as methods instructors at a local IHE.  Those interested can e-mail me off-list at pagarcia@ku.edu.  Thanks, pg
