Learn to Change, Change to Learn--shown at the Annual Meeting in San Diego, 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHiby3m_RyM
I used this as my introduction when I met w/ principals to talk about what they should "look for" when doing walk-thrus in WL classrooms. The video was what they should NOT see--worked!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4ZYlb8gkTk
I used the "Forever Wedding Dance" video as a warm up for a pd on formative assessment & learning targets. Before they viewed the video (don't tell what it is ahead of time), they received a linguafolio type hand out: 1. What was the learning target? 2. did students have an opportunity to show in different ways that they could meet the learning target? 3. did students have an opportunity to repeat their performances? 4. When did you see an example of a teacher using the ZPD? 5. could you have given each student feedback which would have given ideas to improve the performance? etc, etc, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-94JhLEiN0
I actually used this and it worked great. We had a great discussion around creating performance assessments that allow students at multiple levels of proficiency to demonstrate their learning. Teachers loved it! I highly recommend it. Thanks for sharing!
Check out Mike Wesch's The Future of Communication (annoying add the first 30 seconds)--great think to show to principals/think tank type groups as well--good thoughts about technology as "media" and how this new "media" influences communication & culture--

Can we add music to this discussion? I'm always on the hunt for new music to inspire and make a point. Some recent ones I've used are "Ready to Go" by Republica and "Celebration" by Madonna.
Go for it! Love the idea! You should be able to add new discussions.

Here is the link to one of the World Language videos produced by Wisconsin Dept. of Public Ed--Paul Sandrock & Pam Delfosse are moderators. This one is on Formative Assessment--there are others.

Leslie Baldwin replied to James R. Yoder's discussion Proficiency Levels?
"Those are higher than the exit proficiency expectations we have set in NC.  We also differentiated expectations by mode of communication and language type.  You can see what we did by looking at the tables in the intro part of the…"
