Thanks Thomas! I just checked out his blog and the first entry had to do with a project on twitter. So I passed along the info to my Latin teachers and department heads as an FYI. Latin is definitely a challenge, as has been stated here.

If you are looking for the ultimate 21st century Latin classroom, look no further then the famous "TeachPaperless" classroom of Shelly Blake-Plock. While his writing is often dealing with issues bigger then Latin, he is a Latin teacher at…

We have been working on essential and guiding questions with our Cambridge-driven Latin 1-4 curriculum. You can look at this information on the Curriculum and Instruction menu on our district website www.madison.k12.ct.us. Go to pages 239-245 of the…

I must say that Latin gets relatively little of my attention. We have done quite a bit of collaborative work and have common unit assessments for Latin 1, 2 and 3. As for "innovative", I would not claim that to be the case. The teachers…

I have to confess that I have neglected our Latin program. Anyone have a UBD based curriculum using Cambridge? Not sure I can pry my folks away from their texts.

LATIN links to innovative programs/practices?

In our efforts to expand our world language offerings we don't want our Latin program to get lost in the midst. We would like to capitalize on our district's current support of language learning and initiatives. I'm looking for resources, schools sites, districts etc... that have really innovative LATIN programs. Anyone have anything to share? :)

Name of District, City, & State
Lexington School District One
My regional FL conference is:
SCOLT
My primary supervisory K-12 responsibilities are at this level:
District
Number of Teachers that I supervise:
100-150
Do you have a website for your program?
https://www.edline.net/pages/Lexington_County_SD_One/Departments/Di...
What is the current focus of your work?
In Lexington One we are focusing on preparing our students to become plurilingual in two or more languages. We are working right now to provide learning opportunities for our students daily at the elementary level (through partial immersion and KITE-LL) and as a core area at the middle grades before moving on to engage in intensive learning opportunites at the high school levels.
What are your three areas of expertise (for sharing with other members)?
In serving in my role as WL coordinator in my district I have had a lot of experience with starting immersion programs in schools, working with teachers and admins to "think outside the box," and using technology for learning (including distance learning scenarios).
What is your greatest area of concern for your district?
Currently I think that we have a very innovative, creative WL faculty in our district that is excited and enthusiastic about new learning opportunities for our kids. We need to be very careful as we move forward that we take care to do things right and not be rushed and make careless decisions. We also need to explore how to move forward in creative ways with very little funding because we have suffered such severe budget cuts.
